WILDFIRE "BEHIND THE SCENES" ON OCTOBER EPISODE OF EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION
Los Angeles - September 29, 2006 - Wildfire, Inc.,
known for providing black light effects for the entertainment
industry since 1989, announced their involvement in the Bliven Family
Episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which aired Sunday, October
15.
The Bliven family of Minot, North Dakota are the recipients
of this episode’s "extreme
makeover," earning the privilege for their struggle in making life easier
for the eldest son, Aaron, who has cerebral palsy.
Nancy Hadley, one of the show’s
artists, created a Pirates of the Caribbean theme
for the younger son’s room, painting a mural to resemble the deck of the Black
Pearl—complete with pirates and all. There’s even a "steering
deck" built into the room. But when you turn on Wildfire’s EffectsMaster™ black
light fixtures, which are recessed into the ceiling and controllable with a standard
light switch, the pirates on the wall become spooky skeletons, “ghost” foot
prints appear on the floor, handprints appear on the stair railing of the steering
deck, and the entire room glows with an eerie blue. Hadley used Wildfire UV Luminescent
Paint to create two of Wildfire’s hallmark effects: the dual image, and
the invisible image.
Although the effect didn’t air, photos can be seen
on the show’s
website at http://abc.go.com/primetime/xtremehome.
John
Berardi, vice president of Wildfire, commented, “We’re obviously
disappointed that they didn’t show the effect on the air. But when it comes
down to it, the show is really about the family, not about all the little details
of the new house. We wish the Bliven family all the best.”
The EffectsMaster™ Series, which was used in the pirate room, is a fluorescent
black light fixture that features high-output electronic ballasting and polished
reflectors that provide 200% more output than standard fluorescent fixtures of
equivalent size. This is one of the secrets behind creating a really bright glow
effect—another hallmark of the “Wildfire Effect.”
Also featured is Wildfire’s UV Luminescent Paint. Wildfire’s paint
line is created with super-saturated pigment formulations that make the painting
seem to come alive under black light—adding to the already spooky effect.
Wildfire has a list of credits in the thousands, having provided materials and
creative guidance for other recent television shows such as CSI, 24, The
Cell, House, For Love or Money, and Without a Trace. In
addition to TV shows, Wildfire creates immersive UV effects featuring day-night
transitions, invisible images, dual images, and 3D effects for films, live shows,
casinos, night clubs, entertainment centers, theme parks, bowling centers, and
themed architectural environments around the world.
Wildfire
donated two four-foot and two two-foot Basic EffectsMaster™ fixtures to
the Bliven family. More information on Wildfire’s black light fixtures
and materials can be found on their website at www.wildfirefx.com.
Extreme
Makeover: Home Edition airs every Sunday at 8/9 pm CST on ABC.
