1. It has a more powerful phosphor coating. Inside a fluorescent black light bulb is a gas mixture which emits short-wave UV when a current is applied to it. A phosphor coating inside the glass tube absorbs the short-wave UV and emits long-wave UV-what is more commonly known as "black light." Our SableLux lamps use a more powerful formula for the phosphor coating in order to increase long-wave UV output
2. It has a smaller diameter tube. The smaller the tube diameter, the greater the output per watt. That's because the phosphor coating is closer to the center of the excited gas mixture inside the bulb. SableLux lamps are a T8-a full half-inch smaller in diameter than standard fluorescent black lights.
3. It can handle VHO (Very High Output) ballasts. The fixture itself is a key ingredient to producing ultra-bright black light effects. That's why SableLux is designed to handle VHO ballasts, which can safely drive the bulbs to more than double their standard rated wattage. Try doing that with cheap Chinese alternatives, and you'll have a dumpster full of burned-out bulbs!
