Most so-called "black light fixtures" produce output in a different part of the spectrum-often at 400nm or 390nm. That's why they don't produce very bright effects. It's also why you you'll be severely disappointed if you want to experiment with interesting effects such as invisible images, dual images, and day/night transitions. Those kind of effects won't respond very well under other wavelengths. We've designed every black light fixture we manufacture to produce maximum UV output at 365-368nm. Not only that, each Wildfire fixture has greater UV output than any other fixture on the market of the same wattage. So what's the secret? It's two-fold: the bulb (lamp) and the ballast... Wildfire's black light bulbs are specially designed to have maximum peak output at 365-368nm-just where the output should be. In addition, every fixture contains an electronic ballast that delivers a more consistent voltage, which improves output efficiency. This also has the added benefits of producing flicker-free operation, promoting longer lamp life, and delivering more consistent output. This "one-two punch" results in a fixture with much more UV output than other UV lights of the same wattage.
